Double Note: Sponge will NEVER link a product he does not stand behind. Also, Sponge has NEVER received free products or special treatment from companies.

Sponge has received a LOT of grief for having this item protruding from a side pocket of his pack. But will he give it up? Fat chance. There's nothing better than having a comfortable chair to sink into after a long day on the trail. It also is handy to hold items in (cleanly) as Sponge sets up and tears down his tent. Finally, "breather" breaks during tough legs. Yes it's 1.5 lbs. - although you can shave a little weight ditching the carrying bag (Sponge switched to a dyneema bag to shave ounces). Even with full weight, it's a luxury item that is worth it for Sponge - maybe you too...

This is a newer item in Sponge's bag for one reason - just in case. You never want to consider that you may need a blade more imposing than the one stuck in your Swiss Army, but the unexpected can happen - whether it's from a wild animal or hostile stranger. This blade is a reasonable 2.77 oz and features a 3 inch blade.

If you plan on doing some solo hiking - and then solo camping, this 2.5 oz. speaker will be beloved. Sponge loves to put on a few tunes while he sets up (or is relaxing in) camp. It charges with USB-C, is waterproof and can last up to 5 hours on a single charge.

Definitely a luxury item - you'll come across some amazing wildflowers that can become cool souvenirs with just a little effort. This press weighs less than 4 oz - this compact it can be "compressed" even further if you swap out the bolts for shorter sizes (these would cost maybe $1 more at your favorite hardware store). This move would also decrease the total depth of the press.

Reading can be a relaxing way to wind down at camp or in your tent - but books can be heavy. Even a Kindle paperweight (what Sponge started with) can add weight and extra charging challenges. Using your phone is a better option - and Audible makes it even easier, as the books are read for you.

This weighs practically nothing, but could pay for itself many times over - especially if you transverse popular trails where used (but not empty) iso-butane canisters are left in hiker boxes. Use this device to combine two canisters - just be sure to follow instructions carefully.

Patches add some personality to your pack - and a mere ounce or so of weight. They can definitely be conversation starters. This one is Sponge's favorite: a classic line from The Hangover: Part 2. After a long day of hiking, you may find yourself quoting it too...

Another personality patch - this time rom the Deadpool movies - usually uttered when he charges into a battle poorly equipped.

This one is on Sponge's medical kit - a perfect line from the 80's classic: Predator. It was plainly said by Jesse "The Body" Ventura.

Does this one need any explanation? Nah. It's located on Sponge's fanny pack :)
